Approaching 20th anniversary of successful MC bid

This weekend marks a memorable time in Kelowna Rockets franchise history.

A bus headed for Vancouver, with the Kelowna bid committee inside, surprised many by winning the right to host the 2004 Memorial Cup.

Regan Bartel spoke to Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton about the triumphant day.

On the bus headed to Vancouver to make the bid that day: Paul Mitchell, Bill Winters, Bruce Hamilton, Gavin Hamilton, Gavin Hamilton Sr, Dave Dakers, Andre Blanleil, Ray Putnam, Larry Johnston, Roger Von Dach and Regan Bartel.

The Rockets would win the 2004 Memorial Cup with a 2-1 win over Gatineau, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champions.
