Colton Dach has done it.

The Kelowna Rockets captain has made the roster for the Canadian World Junior Team.

Check out this video of his teammates congratulating him.

The 19-year-old is one of 11 players from the WHL, guided by Everett Silvertips head coach Dennis Williams.

The Chicago Blackhawks, the team that drafted Dach in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft, love when prospects can experience a high-pressure tournament.

It allows elite players to showcase their abilities with teammates of equal or greater skill sets.

Dach joins three other Blackhawks prospects that could be teammates down the road in the NHL.

Nolan Allan, Ethan Del Mastro, and Kevin Korchinski join Dach, when Canada opens the tournament Boxing Day against Gabriel Szturc and Czechia.

Dach follows in the footsteps of 19 others, with connections to the Kelowna Rockets, that have represented Canada at the marquee event.

That list includes: Robb Gordon, Brett McLean, Chuck Kobasew, Josh Gorges, Shea Weber, Blake Comeau, Luke Schenn, Tyson Barrie, Brandon McMillan, Tyler Myers, Jamie Benn, Rourke Chartier, Madison Bowey, Josh Morrisey, Damon Severson, Dillon Dube (twice), Cal Foote, Kaedan Korczak, Nolan Foote and now Dach.

That long list also includes Bruce Hamilton, Marc Habschied, Jeff Truitt, Ryan Huska, Scott Hoyer, and Jeff Thorburn, who have held  executive/head/assistant/video coach positions or have been added to Hockey Canada’s medical staff.

Players cut over the years include Colton Sissons (injury), Brett Bulmer, and Kole Lind.

The 2023 World Junior Hockey Championships will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick.
