Rockets press release:

The Kelowna Rockets announced today they have acquired a 2025 fifth-round draft pick and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick from the Regina Pats in exchange for 2006-born forward Logan Peskett from the Rockets.

“We’d like to thank Logan for his time as a Rocket,” said Rockets president and general manager, Bruce Hamilton. “Hopefully this move allows him to get into the lineup on a more regular basis.”

Regan’s Take: It is hard to have a player on your roster that you can’t put in your lineup on a regular basis. Often a healthy scratch, it’s best to move that player if he doesn’t fit into your plans. A late-round selection, players taken in this part of the draft have a hard time being full-time WHL players. I think the hope was Peskett would play more of a power game, by using his size to his advantage, something that didn’t materialize in his short stint in Kelowna.

Peskett,17, has appeared in 14 games for Kelowna this season, recording a goal and eleven penalty minutes. The North Vancouver, BC product appeared in 54 games over the last two seasons, recording six points (2G, 6A) and 39 penalty minutes.

The 6’2″, 196-pound forward was selected by the Rockets in the sixth-round (no. 127) in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
