Rockets close out pre-season with loss

The Kelowna Rockets closed out their preseason schedule with a 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Giants Saturday night in Maple Ridge.

Rilen Kovacevic and Gabriel Szturc scored goals in the setback.

Nicholas Cristiano went the distance in goal stopping 19 of the 22 shots he faced.

The Rockets dressed just nine forwards with Andrew Cristall, Nolan Flamand, Jake Poole, Turner McMillen, Ethan Neutens, Colton Dach, and Dylan Wightman all scratched.

Kelowna finishes the preseason with a record of 3-1-1-0.

Elias Carmichael led the team in pre-season scoring with 7 points (0+7=7) with Andrew Cristall (4+1=5), Nolan Flamand (2+3=5), Gabriel Szturc (3+2=5) and Marcus Pacheco (1+4=4) each picking up 5 points apiece.

The team now prepares to open the regular season next Saturday, September 24th, with a home game against the visiting Portland Winterhawks.
