Twas the night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through Prospera Place, Kris Mallette was envisioning a way to get back into the BC Division race.

Sitting eighth in the conference with 12 wins on the year, is it best to stay status quo, with the trade deadline oh so near?

The team was busy changing out 20-year-olds in an effort to get bolder, Jake Poole was gone, and in came Carson Golder.

Andrew Cristall was nestled, all snug in his bed, with visions of winning more games dancing in his head.

The coaches were involved in some intense chalk talk, the dream of playing for Canada at the world juniors realized by 19-year-old captain Colton Dach.

Injured forward Adam Kydd was scoring at a terrific pace, Noah Dorey putting his stinky glove right into the opposition’s face.

Talyn Boyko and Jari Kykkanen were sharing the duties in the net, and the power play, most nights, was a constant threat.

While one-goal losses seemed to be piling up, John Babcock urged his teammates – ‘we can’t give up’.

All of a sudden, there arose such a clatter, Rockets fans awoke from their bed to see what was the matter.

Mud was splattered from the ceiling to the floor, the penalty-killing unit too busy to notice while successfully shutting the door.

Oh, no worries everyone, for it was only Gabriel Szturc, kicking off his clunky, well worn winter boots.

On Carmichael, Price, McMillen and Dylan Wightman, the team in tune much like when John Travolta sang – Grease Lightning.

Go Graham, Peskett, Pacheco and Jackson DeSousa, block all those shots, and avoid getting a bruise-a.

While Flamand, Lenton and Abougouche were all playing with heart, the fans hoping the team is around when the playoffs do start.

“Happy hockey to all, and to all a good night!”
