Rockets win on and off the ice
On a day where the Kelowna Rockets were awarded the 2026 Memorial Cup, the players celebrated with a 4-2 win over the Portland Winterhawks.
Three goals in the second period scored by Andrew Cristall, Hiroki Gojsic, and Michael Cicek, who also had an assist, helped the Rockets snap the Winterhawks four game winning streak. The Cicek, Gojsic, and Tij Iginla line combined for five points, with Iginla earning two assists.
“After a sleepy first period, those guys played with more jam,” Rockets assistant coach Quintin Laing said after the game. “They were taking pucks to the net, being heavy on their sticks, and then the plays just started opening up for them.”
Andrew Cristall also scored even strength, with the Rockets going 0 for 3 on the powerplay, yet allowed both Winterhawks goals while sitting in the penalty box.

AGREED !! After a sleepy 1st period, the boys woke up and gutted out a great win !! 🙂
A solid win in a building after a long bus ride too. The day off is well deserved.
