Rockets acquire defender
The Kelowna Rockets have acquired defenseman Parker Alcos, along with a seventh-round pick in 2028 and a third-round pick in the 2026 CHL Import Draft, from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for Kelowna’s first-round pick in the 2026 CHL Import Draft, a second-round pick in 2027, and a third-round pick in 2026 (Prince George).
Alcos, 19, is a 6-foot-4, 185-pound right-shot defenseman from Port Moody, BC, who brings a combination of size, mobility, and poise to the Rockets’ blue line. Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the sixth round (189th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Alcos has steadily developed into a reliable, high-minutes defender at the WHL level.
The blueliner has appeared in 167 career WHL games with Edmonton, totaling 44 points (4G, 40A) and 103 penalty minutes. During the 2025–26 season, Alcos has recorded 14 points (2G, 12A) in 31 games and is a +29.
Regan’s Take: Playing short with three d-men sidelined with injury, the team addressed that need with the trade for Alcos. A defenseman whose bread and butter is defending is the key recipe that management is addressing here. Alcos is a simple puck mover. Nothing flashy here. Steady Eddie is what the 19-year-old is all about. Another astute move with the team having enough fire power up front.
