Rockets come up empty in Royal rematch
For the first time in four games, overtime wasn’t required. Neither was a shootout. And for the first time in eight games, the Kelowna Rockets came away without a point.
The Rockets’ seven-game point streak came to an end Saturday night with a 4-1 loss to the Victoria Royals, as a sluggish start and an inability to generate enough offence proved costly on the final night of their Vancouver Island road trip.
Owen Folstrom scored Kelowna’s lone goal, but the Rockets managed just 20 shots on net and never recovered from falling behind 3-0 in the opening period.
For assistant coach Brandon McMillan, the biggest concern was not the result itself, but how the Rockets started.
